How to express "go to bed" more gracefully?

I feel the arms of Morpheus beckoning me to inevitable slumber.

*The sheets are calling my name
*The cats need some company
*The bed bugs are getting restless
*My eyes will drop out if I dont go get flat
*If I sit here any longer Ill be drooling on your shoulder
*You dont want to hear me snore in your ear, so off I go

however..'hit the hay' is usual
and I believe that
'going to sleep now' is acceptable

You probably don't want to use the sweet prince bit. It's what Horatio says to Hamlet as he (Hamlet) dies. I was just cheekily bidding piffka good night.

It is nice, though, isn't it?

Well, I have to toddle off.

Not. Hate that.

My mother, who was hard of hearing, answered, "What?"
That's how I was born.

If I'm going to bed first, I'll ususally say to my husband "I'm going to retire for the evening, good night" <kiss, kiss>

Equus, I've been known to say "I'm going to lie in the arms of Morpheus" also.

How elegant. I just say, "You want to go to sleep or what? I usually hoping she'll say "What?"
