Yeah...the lack of weapons is probably why violent crime is SO MUCH GREATER in England...than in the United States.

Only a tiny minority of Brit crims pack artillery, and usually only use them against rival gangs.
And most of their weapons are junk, picked up second-hand and worn out, or made by shady backstreet gunsmiths out of soft metal liable to jam or explode in the users hand. Ammo too is mostly unreliable and shoddily-made.

I think it was just such a junk "gun" that I was shot with when walking home after dark in 2002. Three shots rang out of the shadows across the street, two whizzed past my head and smacked into a nearby brick wall and the third hit me in the calf but I carried on walking as if nothing had happened rather than give him the satisfaction of going down, how kool was that..
There was a half-inch deep bloody hole in my leg but no bullet in there so it must have been a low-velocity junk gun.
I called the cops, the gunman was long gone but they found a half inch silver ball bearing in the gutter, maybe that was the "bullet"!

Incidentally, you can carry a screwdiver or even a knife for protection here in Britain and the cops can't touch you, UNLESS you tell them it's for protection, then they'll bust you!
For example, in a TV docu last year, Brit cops pulled over a young driver for a minor traffic offence and noticed a baseball bat on the back seat. They asked him why it was there and he replied "It's not there for any reason. It just happens to be there". They carried on chatting pleasantly with him hoping he's slip up, and he DID! He said something like "These are troubled times we live in and i might need the bat for protection"
BINGO, they nabbed him for "admitting to possession of a weapon"!

Come on now Frank. You know as well as I do that it isn't the gun but who is using it. Over 300,000 million guns in the US, and crime at an all time low.

Violent crime in the UK is higher then it is here by about double. They might not have as many guns as we do here but that doesn't stop the people with bad intentions. Violent crime in the UK is about double what it is here. Sure you have a better chance of being shot here, but you have a better chance of getting stabbed and robbed in the UK. I'll take my chances here!

One thing is damn sure Frank rapists are as safe as can be in England not even needing to worry about getting pepper spray in their eyes less alone getting hit by a stun gun or.........

Must be a big lobby in the English parliament looking after the welfare of rapists.

I think I would begin small Frank with the right of women to carry token amounts of pepper spray and working up to stun guns in the UK.

Perhaps then taking the very high risk of allowing the UK Olympic pistol team to practice in the country instead of traveling to Spain or where ever.

After listening to all the cooing over gun ownership, I think I'm reconsidering my position. Trayvon's parents should have given him a gun to carry, so that when he noticed a strange large man following him, he could have just shot George from a safer distance evoking his stand your ground right. Wouldn't that be a win win situation for gun rights advocates?
