@Baldimo,
I'm not guessing that he followed Martin in the dark and frightened him, or that he gave Martin reason to fear him because of the way he was acting by stalking him. That's what Martin said to Rachel Jeantel--he was concerned about this man who was watching and following him, and she became concerned about it too.
The last thing Jeantel heard Martin say, to Zimmerman, was, "Get off me."
That alone justifies Trayvon Martin acting in self-defense--it suggests Zimmerman was making an aggressive action toward him.
Quote:You are guessing that Zimmerman had his gun out which the facts do not support
The facts don't refute that possibility either. It is very possible that Zimmerman either had the gun out, or had his hand on it, ready to pull it out, before Martin defensively punched him. And, as soon as he hit the ground, Zimmerman had it out. What followed after that, was not a fight with either of them throwing punches, it was a struggle over the gun.
That scenario is more consistent with the evidence that Trayvon showed no signs of being punched, and Zimmerman showed signs of only one punch to the nose. So the facts would support the possibility that Trayvon was trying to protect his own life, and the alleged "fight" was a struggle over the gun. It would have been almost impossible for Zimmerman to have gotten his gun out once Martin was on top of him--the gun was under Zimmerman, toward the back.
But, we will never know what actually happened...because the other eyewitness is dead.
