Hello, this is my first post.
I have always been confuced with these two words. Could someone please make it clearer?

"because of simple microscopic morphology, extend of its biodiversity remain irresolute"

in the above sentence, should it be extent? Is the word irresolute at the end used correctly?

thanks

@felixbast,
It should be the extent. I would use unresolved for added clarity.

irresolute is more descriptive of a person who can't make up his or her mind than it is of an impersonal situation, i.e. it's descriptive of a state of mind. Extent is a noun, extend is a verb. The desert's extent has never been measured. I extend the hand of friendship to you. In other words, what Roger says.
