Where to find a good engagement ring?

Preferably a ruby ring that is below $1000. I haven't both jewelry online before so I need some guidance for this. I need recommendations from anyone with real experience buying from online jewelry stores. Thank you!

Do it in person.

Haggle. Buy it after Christmas. Some jewelry stores have clearance sales. Look for facilities that make or modify the rings on site.
