Thanks Debacle, this is the answer that Google translate gives, but I am insecure with it. I suspect a translation close to "trepid" or "terror" would be nearer the nuance. Agitare to me is more to do with movement. But I am an amateur with these things. Could anyone shed more light on this?

It was indeed, George. I imagine it was Google Translator. At least it's one of the buttons on the Google Toolbar. It can't be very dependable, since it translates each word of a sentence as soon as it's typed.

I find it rather interesting, and often get comical results, to use an automated translator and do a switch-around, translating the results back into English. Generally bears little relation to the original English phrase.
