Don't worry, this is not another "what if" exercise.

For a non-whatif it has plenty of what-ifs.

Maybe if, instead of asking the Taliban to "hand over" bin Laden, we had invaded Afghanistan a few months before we actually did, "9/11" wouldn't have been burned into the American vernacular.

It's unlikely that this would have affected the active, operating cell.

False. David Kay speculated that this was a possibility. There was never a shred of evidence for this position, just conjecture.

He did most certainly not "report" that Saddam thought he had WMDs, he posed a "what-if".

The rest contains some pretty laughable statistics, what if I had the time to debunk them? ;-)

On the one-year anniversary of the war in Iraq, the only second-guessing going on seems to be whether or not Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. Never mind that David Kay reported that Saddam himself believed he had WMD, and that Iraq clearly had the capability to whip up plenty of lethal biological weapons in just a couple of weeks for the purpose of easily killing thousands of innocent civilians.

Was there another paragraph in between these that you left out? The two do not go together.

a perception clearly reinforced by Clinton's cunning strategy of laying low and refusing to respond.

Right off the top, Clarke's book and testimony show this claim to be false.

Right Wing Strategy
The reason I usually don't respond to Right Wing articles is that most of them use the same method. Misperception, half truths, blatant lies.

I watched the debate between John O'Neil, the guy is still alive, and John Kerry (1971). O'Neil used the same method that the Right Wing usually use. It was interesting that 30 years later Right Wingers use the same methods.

The fact is David Kay spoke a length of the evidence of WMD programs found in Iraq. What they didn't find was the WMD.

Verbatim from David Kay's testimony:

"Discussions with Iraqi scientists uncovered agent R&D work that paired overt work with nonpathogenic organisms serving as surrogates for prohibited investigation with pathogenic agents.

Examples include: B. Thurengiensis (Bt) with B. anthracis (anthrax), and medicinal plants with ricin.

In a similar vein, two key former BW scientists, confirmed that Iraq under the guise of legitimate activity developed refinements of processes and products relevant to BW agents. The scientists discussed the development of improved, simplified fermentation and spray drying capabilities for the simulant Bt that would have been directly applicable to anthrax, and one scientist confirmed that the production line for Bt could be switched to produce anthrax in one week if the seed stock were available.

A very large body of information has been developed through debriefings, site visits, and exploitation of captured Iraqi documents that confirms that Iraq concealed equipment and materials from UN inspectors when they returned in 2002."
