I'd thought there were many people asking common questions like this one, but somehow there isn't~
I'm writing a sentence; my instinct told me IN is OK, but I'm not sure whether ON is better; could you help me?:
-I would prefer to live in a land flowing with milk and honey.
What about reading what people say on the internet, by googling?
"live in a land flowing with milk and honey" - 816 000 hits.
"live on a land flowing with milk and honey" - 1 hit
@WBYeats,
In a land = in a country
On the land = in the countryside.
Thanks all~
This might be one of those trick instances of English prepositions, because we say:
Some animals can live both on land and in water.
@WBYeats,
And some people live off the land.

This 'land' means the same as 'country', so it's as was noted by McTag.

This 'land' describes the physical notion of land as opposed to water.
