Reena conjured the great tales out of the fire. Her words had rarely been so mesmerizing, her eyes never so transfixing. She talked until her voice had become a whisper, though none noticed. She talked until all those who had long feared her magic had drawn close and would for the rest of their lives tell of the wonder of that night. She talked until the green warning of dawn brought the station policemen out on their rounds to scold the villagers back into the carriage.

@Justin Xu,
I suspect that it means the lightening of the eastern horizon just before the sun rises.

@Justin Xu,
Couldn't tell you. But I'll take a wild guess. Is this book Sci-fi by any chance? Does the story take place on another planet?
If so, unlike our cheery blue, pink and orange sunrises, this planet may have a green sunrise. And with the light of day, it brings trouble.

@Ceili,
Not another planet, but in India.
A wild guess which is good.
Maybe it's some kind of light used by the police there.
Well, I'll skip it.
