I understand you could be stroking us because you do not believe in either. But, perhaps you do. . . .

So, do you find them of equal power and longevity?

@neologist,
As your comment earlier, "find" is an improper word - I don't "find" them at all. But saying that, may I also say "I" don't find them in competition, they just "are"!

Do you know there is a GOD or God or god...or are you just guessing and trying to pass off your guess as knowledge?
I know it like I know the sun will rise tomorrow. Call that a guess, if you wish.
You do not KNOW it at all...that is apparent. But to liken it to "knowing" that the sun will rise tomorrow" is almost too funny for words. You could have done better.

The sun will not "rise" tomorrow, Neo. Most likely, our planet will continue to rotate on its axis...and it will give the illusion of a sun rise. But that is all it will be...an illusion which seemed very real to the relatively unsophisticated minds of people alive thousands of years ago.

C'mon. Just acknowledge to us that you do not know if there is a GOD or not. Or if I am wrong...tell me about the revelation.
Aww, heck, Frank. I should know better than to try and fool an intellectual like yourself. I answered as if I might have answered Joe Sixpack. So, let me be more clear:
I know there is a God the same way I know that, by a confluence of celestial events, the sun will appear in the eastern sky tomorrow morning.

There is no such thing as the "eastern sky", Neo. That also is an illusion related to the spin of the planet on its axis.

Try finding something outside the astronomical sphere (pun intended)...and see if you can do any better.

@BillW,
The reason I ask is some folks will argue God created Satan as his antithesis. Such a claim makes God responsible for all the suffering of the world. But you say, if they exist, they just are?

@Frank Apisa,
OK, I know there is a God the same way I know that, by a confluence of celestial events, the sun will appear over building 'B' tomorrow morning.

@neologist,
Don't belittle yin and yang, when something is everything it can't be "just"!

Strike three. The sun will not appear over building "b" tomorrow morning...it will only appear to appear to be there...a part of the mechanics of the Earth rotating on its axis.

Strike three means you are out.

You do not know that a GOD exists...you just want to assert that one does.

You would have done better to simply acknowledge what is glaringly apparent...that you do not know.

But that takes something apparently you do not possess...or will not exercise.

Reach down...or reach up, Neo.

Set this right.

@Frank Apisa,
OK. OK. I know there is a God with the same certainty that you will disagree with post. No wait. You wouldn't just agree with me to poke me, would you? . . .

Actually...I will agree with this...although I think you bolstered my take, not yours.

You could NOT be sure or certain that I would disagree...and in fact, I do agree not disagree because the fact that you KNEW if I would disagree WAS incorrect. (It could have been correct or incorrect...just as the existence of a GOD could be or could be NOT.)

C'mon. Stop. Just acknowledge that you do not know if there is a GOD...IN ANY REASONABLE WAY.

You are just guessing...and you want your guess to be right so passionately, you refuse to acknowledge it as a guess.

But you will be a better person if you do.

If you answer a "Yes" "no" question both ways...you will always be "right."

Give the "I do not actually KNOW" a try.

I am sorry Frank, but you lost me with the phrase "it will only appear to appear".

Mostly I was playing with words here, Max...but my comment is completely correct.

Neo was asserting that the sun would appear over a particular building. But the sun will not actually appear over that building...not at all. It will seem to appear over the building...but it will remain over 93 million miles away.

Bottom line...all that talk is actually irrelevant. Neo was asked if he KNOWS there is a GOD...and has been trying to think of a way to say "Yes, I do know" in a way that will seem reasonable.

I do not think there is a way to do it.

@Frank Apisa,
I get that you were playing with words, that's why I poked back.

But the phrase "appear to appear" is ridiculous.

Can a rainbow ever appear? Does the sky appear blue?

I believe that I believe that you are misusing the word. It seems to seem to me that you are really stretching this point too far. I hope that I hope that you will concede this point so we can move on.

Sure. Why not?

I concede it.
