High wind conditions are expected for portions of New Mexico over the next few days, bringing with it a high possibility of dust storms.
The chance of dust storms is especially high in the northwestern part of the state as well as on the eastern plains. Canyon winds blowing along the middle and lower Rio Grande Valley may also result in storms.
The state’s Environmental Department is reminding people that while dust storms are common in New Mexico, breathing in dust can trigger allergic reactions as well as aggravate health problems.
The best precaution to take during dust storms is to stay indoors. If you must go outside, it is recommended that you avoid hard exercise and wear a cover over your nose and mouth.
@Butrflynet,
Thanks for the heads up. Yaaaaak.
@ossobuco,
We've already had a couple here. Some mulberry trees were uprooted, the wind was so strong.
@Butrflynet,
Dare I mention that your warning was a taddie bit late. They're here.
@InfraBlue,
Ugggh. My neighbor has a mulberry, illegal here as it happens.
Gotta pay my house insurance, which happens to not always be easy.
