Can changing your diet make a fibroid shrink?

@hmcalister,
I highly doubt it. Talk with your doctor.

@hmcalister,
I have a long history with what is probably this, but still nobody can tell me for sure.

I can tell you that avoiding wheat and soy certainly reduces the pain. I can't say for sure that the pain is due to the fibroids or that the fibroids enlarge if I eat those substances, but it is an cheap and easy experiment to run, and it might work for you.

@spikepipsqueak,
Good grief, both of you go the the doctor and don't do online stuff re avoiding soy (you're kidding!).

Some fibroids can be huge and some small, and even the small ones can be very problematic.

I had a small bleeding fibroid and lost almost all of my iron stores before it was attended to.

Fibroids can be serious, don't waltz around about them.

Spike, long history and no one can tell you for sure? Have you been to see a gynecologist?

@ossobuco,
GP, gynecologist, gastroenterologist. The only non contradictory thing they said was that I do, in fact, have fibroids.

[... don't do online stuff re avoiding soy (you're kidding!). ]

You seem to be the person telling me online not to do the thing that years of experience has shown me to give the most relief.

It's a given that hmcalister should have sought medical help. Why do you object to me discussing my experience online? Otherwise, what are we here for? A non invasive solution is better than an invasive one, assuming it is doing the job.

@spikepipsqueak,
Your health is your business, I won't comment further.

my friend B has found that her recent forced gluten-free diet has really helped with the symptoms while the docs continue to debate invasive/non-invasive tx of her fibroids

soy has been off her diet for years because of her lumpy breast tissue

@spikepipsqueak,
I gather some fibroids can be lived with and I don't know about that. I know about friends and myself with difficult ones.
I'm not a gynecologist. I wish you all the best.

@hmcalister,
Consult your doctor on what is better for this.
