Register me or not

Hello, I put my info in to register. I was told to [go to my inbox] enter the activation code sent to me. I did that, and got the activation code, went back, but to a different screen. That screen asked only for my password, and I was to enter certain letters and numbers (usual practice). When I submitted it came back with blank lines several times. I cannot find the initial page asking for the key. I cannot get registered, though in the second page it did say in maybe different words that my password was accepted. Confusing...!
