I am trying to write

I enjoy being people from/of diverse backgrounds. I like working with people
and enjoy group projects, but am also a self-starter who doesn't mind working on my own.

Should I use from or of?

Also is this is a bad sentence compared to my sentence above?
"I enjoy being around different types of people"

@luniawar20,
I enjoy being with/around people from/of diverse backgrounds.
Either word will work.
I enjoy being around different types of people.
This is fine too.
