is this a good place to add the following?

Quote:
Newly obtained military records of one of Sen. John F. Kerry's most vocal critics, who has accused the Democratic presidential candidate of lying about his wartime record to win medals, contradict his own version of events.

In newspaper interviews and a best-selling book, Larry Thurlow, who commanded a Navy Swift boat alongside Kerry in Vietnam, has strongly disputed Kerry's claim that the Massachusetts Democrat's boat came under fire during a mission in Viet Cong-controlled territory on March 13, 1969. Kerry won a Bronze Star for his actions that day.

But Thurlow's military records, portions of which were released yesterday to The Washington Post under the Freedom of Information Act, contain several references to "enemy small arms and automatic weapons fire" directed at "all units" of the five-boat flotilla. Thurlow won his own Bronze Star that day, and the citation praises him for providing assistance to a damaged Swift boat "despite enemy bullets flying about him."
Last month, Thurlow swore in an affidavit that Kerry was "not under fire" when he fished Lt. James Rassmann out of the water. He described Kerry's Bronze Star citation, which says that all units involved came under "small arms and automatic weapons fire," as "totally fabricated."

"I never heard a shot," Thurlow said in his affidavit, which was released by Swift Boats Veterans for Truth. The group claims the backing of more than 250 Vietnam veterans, including a majority of Kerry's fellow boat commanders.

Yes, this is the right place for that. Interesting post, Blatham.

From Boortz:

COME ON NOW ... YOU REALLY SUPPORT THIS GUY?

My sympathies to my liberal Democratic Kerry-voting listeners. You must be scratching your heads this morning over some of The Poodle's latest blatherings.

A few days ago President Bush announced a major redeployment of American troops overseas. Bush said that troops would be withdrawn from both Europe and South Korea. Kerry, of course, being the expert that he is on defense matters and fighting in actual wars and carrying actual guns and all that, had to oppose the President's plans. So The Poodle steps in front of a VFW convention yesterday and delivers this line:

"Why are we withdrawing (he actually said 'withdrawring') unilaterally 12,000 troops from the Korean peninsula at the very time that we are negotiating with North Korea, a country that really has nuclear weapons. This is clearly the wrong signal to send at the wrong time." John Kerry, August 18, 2004

Well .. that would have been just fine, if it hadn't been for pesky things such as memories. Just 17 days earlier Kerry had something completely different to say about troop redeployment:

"I will have significant, enormous reductions in the level of troops ...In the Korean peninsula perhaps, in Europe perhaps." John Kerry, August 1, 2004

Man ... don't you just hate it when that happens?

And how many times did Kerry remind the VFW convention of his service in Vietnam? Sorry, we lost count.

Shouldn't withdraw them now during the negotiations with North Korea (which are suspiciously similar to the same negotiations the Clinton Administration had with NK) and "perhaps" withdrawing (without any clear timeline stated) them are clearly two different things.

Who are you trying to kid?

Boortz has, in his email inbox, various reminders of the following variety...

"To all sympathetic media outlets

Polls show we are making headway defining Kerry as a 'flipflopper'. Continue to hammer this one home. Suggest uncertainty, suggest indecisiveness, suggest opportunism, suggest weakness.

sincerely (really)
Carl"

Suggest weakness? They should be hammering the weakness of intellect possessed by the current stuttering, brain damaged freak.

BOSTON -- Speaking before supporters today, Senator John Kerry tried to reassure his campaign workers that he did not pick up a major drug habit while in Vietnam. Kerry also asked his campaign staff to make sure that there are plenty of Oreos and peanut butter on hand at all future campaign stops because he sometimes gets an uncontrollable urge for junk food which he attributes to hypoglycemia.

Kerry also said that campaign workers should not be alarmed if they see him apply a tourniquet to his arm and use a candle to heat up a liquid substance in a spoon. The Senator said that he was trained as a medic while in Vietnam and likes to perform medical procedures on himself "just to keep up my skills."

In related news, Kerry is expected to receive endorsements from Steven Sills, Tommy Chong and Woody Harrelson tomorrow during a campaign appearance at the "Just So No" Foundation headquarters in Los Angeles.

This sounds all too familiar, Kerry votes for iraq war...Bush does it, then Kerry's against it.

Kerry says realigning the troops is a good idea...Bush does it then Kerry's against it.

So is this going to be the meat of Kerry's campaign strategy for the duration? If so keep a lot of syrup on hand...

Kerry isn't the only one against what is going on with the war that hasn't been won in Iraq. Realigning the troops wasn't mentioned by Kerry, just that this was the wrong time to announce while in negotiations (again, similar to the same deal the Clinton Administration had with NK) that any troops would be pulled out of SK at this time. Lot of hard heads around A2K.

I wonder how much of the cocaine Bush inhaled actually originated in Viet Nam? That would give him a kind of connection.

mcg, so nice to see you sticking to issues of merit to the american people, or did you forget there are people concerned more about their lives and their furtures then they are about unsupported allegations about either Bush's or Kerry's service record?
keep in mind I am the noted "radical anarchist" of a2k fame but I am truely interested in actual issues over innuendo and sound bites. what say we have a tread showing, side by side, Kerry platforms vs Bush platforms on key issues. You know, kinda like bring on the debate as if it were effecting the people. Perhaps we could both learn something, nah, I doubt it.
