#1 could be B or D.

#2 could be A, B, or D.

It depends on the context and meaning of the sentence.

Also, who says "Why!"? Sounds very unnatural to me (I'm American).

Using "Why" as an exclamation sounds to American ears very old-fashioned. Maybe some really really old people still stay that, but you would be very hard-pressed to find it in common speech or modern literature.
