Interesting stats:

the vaccination prevented 70% of women from catching the virus, but not the men. However, un-vaccinated women are twice as likely to catch the virus than men.

1 out of 5 americans with genital herpes
80% with oral herpes.....

the numbers are astounding!

Wow, that's extraordinary! Particularly interesting - I didn't realize herpes was such a factor in pregnancy. And, of course, prevent other STDs and you'll decrease the chance of HIV transmission.

Herpes can be easily managed in pregnancy, but sometimes still happens. It can cause blindness and brain damage.

Interesting stats, great to know its being worked on though..the numbers are astounding especially considering so many other advances in medicine, education, etc.

since I updated the cervical cancer vaccination thread, I figured I'd check on the herpes vaccination progress. Canberra is starting a study by vaccinating young women there.

And similar tests are being done in the states. It's just a blip, but it's recent news.
