I can't relax

Bit of a brain vomit, apologies:

Does anyone else ever feel like they can never relax ? I'm finding I can never relax about my career, it's basically the only thing I think about: learning more, doing more, not being as successful as I want to be yet. I can't enjoy anything without it having a 'purpose' to it, and no matter how much I do I always feel like I could have done a ton load more. I've done quite a lot in comparison to some of my friends, but I never give myself a break or let it feel like 'enough'. I see friends a couple of times a week, but apart from that work is all I do. Is anyone else the same? I can't decide if the solution is to work even harder until I get something, or to find a way of not being so fixated on it. Maybe summer will help.

Hey PQ,

Not me. I'm pretty relaxed all the time.

Once you figure out that all the BS pressure you place on yourself really is self-generated, it all just sort of drops away.

Why are you working so hard all the time? Is there a goal you are trying to reach, or what?

I'm your direct opposite, but then I'm multiples of your age. But I think behaviors do tend to stick. I did spend years in near constant agitation for arguably good reasons a long time ago but even back then I had a zoning out to looking around mode for the spaces I was in, and some procrastination behavior.

Clearly you are bright and driven.

Of course I think you should relax already - but then I would.

I'll speak up for zoning out and just being.

Sometimes I think fear is a driver of frenetic activity. But.. sometimes that has good results.
