First, I'm 17 and a girl.

My mom gave me 50 bucks for my birthday-the most money I've ever gotten. She told me we were going to the mall so I could spend it. I rarely go to the mall,so I was excited and started dreaming of shopping a couple of days before.video games, belts,kitty ears,hats, even things for my rabbit,you know, just dreaming of a shopping spree. The day we went, I spent all of my money in less than 15 minutes.

But lately, I've been have repetitive dreams of buying things at the store, and have been given lots of money-once 1000 dollars-in my dream. I've already spent my lunch money when some girl was selling cookies at school,and I didn't even really want them. I'm buying lots of stuff at school that's like a dollar, and I don't even use or eat it anymore.

Why exactly am I dreaming of buying things,and buying stuff I don't even want? I never had this issue, even when I've bought things before or had some spare dollars. My mom took me to the mall for christmas and she bought me a few things,and I didn't have the issue then either.

@magicstorm101,
I went through all that, after many years of having extremely low money. I got to go to university since, at the time, there was no tuition. I remember having something like a quarter a day in my pocket (the university was near us, this was a long time ago).

When I finally got a full time job (I'd had jobs all along, but that went to buying books, helping my parents), shopping was a complete joy to me. I could hardly believe how wonderful. In time I learned that the joy was in picking out something and then walking to the cash register, and diminished as I walked out the store door, since I would then be thinking about acquiring something else next, perhaps to go with the last purchase, or not.

This is a cycle, a pretty dumb one, at that, but understandable, at least by me.

My only advice - watch yourself and what you are doing. Learn how to budget and make smart choices, while leaving yourself room for a treat once in a while.
