@magicstorm101,
I went through all that, after many years of having extremely low money. I got to go to university since, at the time, there was no tuition. I remember having something like a quarter a day in my pocket (the university was near us, this was a long time ago).
When I finally got a full time job (I'd had jobs all along, but that went to buying books, helping my parents), shopping was a complete joy to me. I could hardly believe how wonderful. In time I learned that the joy was in picking out something and then walking to the cash register, and diminished as I walked out the store door, since I would then be thinking about acquiring something else next, perhaps to go with the last purchase, or not.
This is a cycle, a pretty dumb one, at that, but understandable, at least by me.
My only advice - watch yourself and what you are doing. Learn how to budget and make smart choices, while leaving yourself room for a treat once in a while.
