California Homeowner Defends Wife
by Shooting and Killing Home Invader
With 911 on the Phone

OCTOBER 8 2014

BY DAN CANNON

Yet another story that shows that when seconds count,
the police are only minutes away
.

A husband had to use deadly force to defend himself, his wife and his home
from a home invader earlier this week as his wife talked to a 911 operator.

According to PE.com,
About 10:45 p.m., a woman called 911 to report a burglary in progress,
Riverside County sheriff’s officials said in a news release. The woman
said a man was trying to force his way into their home in the 100 block
of South Torn Ranch Road and that her husband had armed himself with a handgun.
Sheriff’s officials said the husband, who is in his 40s, warned the man
that he was armed and would shoot if he continued. The intruder did not
heed the resident’s warning, breaking a window, and the homeowner
opened fire, according to sheriff’s officials.

The man was taken by ambulance to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar,
where he succumbed to his injuries.
The homeowner is not expected to face any charges in the incident
(since this is California we felt the need to say that).

@OmSigDAVID,
This is about THE most ridiculous defence argument I've seen.

Only in America would you get a supposedly serious Investigative Government bureau trying to make out as if 418 deaths were somehow acceptable.

Try looking up how many similar deaths occurred in the UK during that period. Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Canada, Australia.....you get my drift.

Let's face it gun boy, it's the USA that has the vast majority of psychos neatly rounded up inside its borders.

Pathetic defence, and an insult to all those poor parents and families of the victims. You should be ashamed.

Land of the free my arse.

So, taking your quoted stats which are showing that far more people die from other stuff than from mass shootings, lets follow your logic with something else, shall we?

"Falling Down – 26,631 died from injuries sustained in various
types of falls......."

Now, 3000 (approx) died on American soil from terrorist attack during that same period. Only 11% approx of the people who died by falling down.

So why is it that you make such a fuss about them? They're nothing special, according to you.

Your stats. Your logic.

From GUNS SAVE LIVES

WHY I CARRY:
Father is Shot in Front of His Entire Family During Home Invasion

OCTOBER 8 2014

BY DAN CANNON

Here is another one of our “Why I Carry” stories.
These stories, unlike our defensive gun use stories, take a look at situations
that may have turned out very differently if the victim(s) had been armed.
These stories are the “other side of the coin” so to speak and serve as an
important reminder as to why it’s important to take responsibility for
your own personal safety.

This is also an important reminder of why it is important to keep
a defensive firearm close at hand even while at home. Remember,
100% of home invasions happen in the home.

According to WSBTV,
A father is still in critical condition after being shot in front of his family
during a home invasion Monday night, Fulton County police said.

Police said two masked men kicked in the back door of the 28-year-old
man’s home Monday night on Sandbar Lane. The homeowner tried to fight off
the men but was shot in front of his wife, mother and three children.
As always, I have to point out that a firearm may or may not have
helped prevent or stop this crime. However, I prefer to have options
whenever possible over simply begging for my life.

No arrests have been made and a description of the masked suspects
is not yet available.

*************************************************************************

Call me a hypocrit,
but candor moves me to admit
that I do not bear arms at home
because I feel very, very safe.

Man exercising open carry right is robbed of his own firearm at gunpoint

A Gresham, Oregon, man who had just purchased a handgun was robbed of the firearm while practicing his
open carry right, KOIN 6 reports.

William Coleman III was standing outside just after 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, talking to his cousin and displaying
the Walther-brand P22 handgun he had bought earlier that day. A young man approached the pair, asked
about Coleman's gun, then pulled his own firearm out and pointed it at Coleman, saying, "I like your gun.
Give it to me."

Coleman handed over the weapon, and the robber fled the scene. Police are investigating the crime.

Some folks r very eager qua open carry of defensive guns.
This is not a serious gun; it is a toy, for plinking tin cans or paper
because it is only a .22 (very, very poor stopping power)
and it is a mere pistol, not a revolver.
Pistols jam too much; un-reliable.
No one in his right mind woud choose a .22 to defend his life or property,
unless that is all u can grab in an emergency.

I believe that exposed carrying relinquishes a tactical advantage
and it exposes your guns to the rain, snow, or robbers.
Police in uniform r exposed to this danger also.

The victim might have kept a covert back-up gun
to get it back.

Over 14 years thay r about 3O people a year;
relatively trivial compared to about 8OO fatal accidents
from riding bicycles in one year alone.

Pa. Concealed Carrier Shoots Attacker,
Who Was Wielding 13 Inch Hunting Knife, in the Groin

OCTOBER 13 2014

BY DAN CANNON

Let’s see, what are the quick takeaways from our first defensive gun use
on this Monday?

1. Don’t bring a knife to a gunfight and

2. OUCH!

According to local media sources, a man armed with a 13 inch
serrated hunting knife apparently became agitated and confronted
another man in the parking lot a store in Philadelphia around 5:30PM yesterday.

The victim told the suspect to drop the knife several times,
but the suspect refused.

When the suspect charged the victim, still holding the knife,
the victim drew his concealed Glock 9mm handgun and fired
one shot at the suspect.

The suspect was struck once in the groin area,
which apparently stopped the knife attack.

The suspect was taken to an area hospital for treatment and
he is currently described as being in critical condition.
The victim who fired the shot was licensed to carry the firearm
according to police.

This is the 50th defensive gun use we’ve documented in the state of
Pennsylvania and the 1,315th defensive gun use we’ve documented overall.

This incident is the one of the most common types of defensive gun uses.
That is, one in which no one was killed. Despite this being one of
the most common types of defensive gun uses, these incidents are
often not included in statistics about defensive gun uses.

Many of these statistics and studies focus solely on justifiable homicides,
which represent only a fraction of total defensive gun uses.

Its too bad that the boys had not been better trained
in competent gun-handling practices in a public school; negligent.

OK, stupid that thay were not taught
competent gun handling in public schools. IF thay had been,
then presumably, thay woud not have shot anyone, except if defensively correct.

When I was a kid in school, we were threatened that against drowning,
we 'd be prevented from graduating unless we learned to swim in their pool.

Good grief.

RULE #1: All guns are always loaded, even if you "know" they aren't.

Do you know how many accidental shootings involve someone saying "I thought it wasn't loaded"?

It's pretty near 100%.

I saw an article a couple days ago about a Seattle-area man who accidentally shot and killed his 19-year-old wife when he was cleaning a gun he believed to be unloaded.

It reminded me of the articles you post here.

Its pretty damn EZ to see whether a revolver is loaded or not.

The South African legless Olympic runner guy was just sentenced.

Five years in prison (but after 10 months he can apply to serve the rest under house arrest).

An additional 3 years suspended sentence, suspension contingent on him not incurring any additional firearms charges over the next five years.

The prosecutors might appeal that he should be convicted of at least second degree murder. I'm not sure I see a case for such a conviction, but they do have the right to appeal if they so choose.
