What a memory, the day he was born! I was fully preggers. Overdue, in fact. My due date was June 14th, but I asked the doctor to wait on the C-section. I wanted June 21st, the Summer Solstice. I envisioned his birthday parties stretching into the eve on the the longest day, the sunlight lifting him.
Which day is the eve on the longest day? The day before the Summer Solstice or exactly the day of the Summer Solstice.
I don't know which day's sunlight lifts the boy.

The summer solstice in on the 21st. By rights, the solstice eve would be the night before, on June 20. But in the case, I think she is referring to the evening of the solstice, birthday parties lasting long into the night.
