@spendius,
Stop being such a killjoy, spendi.

It is not necessary to interject a man into that scenario. Sometimes pampering, luxury, and cake will suffice.

@FOUND SOUL,
We had all gone to a chinese restaurant (a rather good one), and the jellyfish were, ah, new to me. Similar to rubber bands. Not a big hit at the table.

Well-- a washed and well scrubbed fish-kettle wench cannot possibly supply the frissoned nuances of sophisticated female supremacy, which it is so important to have expressed, on the same ballpark as that of a gentleman such as I had the impertinence to offer a short description of.

I think you are being a bit coy.

It brought Lady Bertram to mind.

Oooh, here are some other coffee houses in New York City and elsewhere.

http://www.grubstreet.com/2013/09/best-coffee-shops-in-america.html#photo=1x00053

I've only gotten to number 5 so far and felt induced to put a link here.
#5 reminds me somewhat of a good old place in Venice, California. One of their traits besides drinkable coffee and good bakery goods was having books all over the room and comfy furniture. I forget the name of it but it was on the Venice side of Marine St., which divided Venice and Santa Monica. I think they've been gone for years now, but memory lasts. They were there before caffe lattes became the thing.

@ossobuco,
I'm up to #32 now. Pants, I like the looks/history of that place. Probably would like the coffee too.

@ossobuco,
Have you ever boozed in a pub year after year with the owner of a sophisticated coffee shop at the cutting edge of the technology of getting bubbles, the air, into milk beverages?

I have.

Anyone want to join me in having some cherry cheesecake? It's one way I'm adding more fruit to my diet. Laughing

@FOUND SOUL,
An Army acquaintance offered me a piece of dried "cuttle fish" sent from his home in Hawaii. I accepted, and chewed on it awhile. And chewed, and chewed, and chewed. . . . Gosh darn stuff kept getting bigger and bigger. I finally swallowed it whole before it got too big.

@vonny,
I remember buying cuttle bone for our parakeets.

If we shared it with them, we could claim, "I eat like a bird." Laughing

A perfect light lunch...

Blueberry crepes with orange ricotta filling.

It's been so quiet in here, Wassau is able to indulge my every whim in a flash. I'm not complaining. Smile
