Actually, I'm trying to gain some weight right now (something I'm definitely not accustomed to doing), so I'm indulging myself at every opportunity.

Did you know that some adult fireflies do not eat at all?

@firefly,
Wikipedia wrote:
Fireflies hibernate over winter during the larval stage, some species for several years. Some do this by burrowing underground, while others find places on or under the bark of trees. They emerge in the spring. After several weeks of feeding, they pupate for 1.0 to 2.5 weeks and emerge as adults. The larvae of most species are specialized predators and feed on other larvae, terrestrial snails, and slugs. One such species is Alecton discoidalis, which is found in Cuba. Some are so specialized, they have grooved mandibles that deliver digestive fluids directly to their prey. Adult diet varies. Some are predatory, while others feed on plant pollen or nectar.

I'll take Spendi's word for it but I can't find anything in the literature about fireflies going on a crash diet.

Did you know that Grave of the Fireflies is one of the most beautiful yet depressing films of all time?

Oh... and I'll take a slice of that key lime pie please.

The name yuanyang refers to Mandarin ducks. The male and female look very different — like the coffee and milk tea used to make the drink — but still represent conjugal love in Chinese culture. Romantic drink is romantic.

One reason I prefer eating at this Coffee House is because I find fast food places creepy.

Where is everyone lately? This Coffee House seems deserted.

@firefly,
If there were some ladies who sported long golden ringlets, foreheads of Parian marble, evenly set teeth like lustrous pearls, rosy cheeks fore and aft, dark brown eyelashes, deep hazel eyes with violet tints, melting expressions, lambent fire ready to flash indignation and scorn, tall stately figures, well poised heads on graceful necks and big tits and men to appreciate such beasts, things might well be different.

@spendius,
And here I've been foolishly thinking the attraction of this place was the stimulating companionship...

@firefly,
<Snorts>

I've been away, and am working up to a long story in my thread on it, something about hospital adventure.. about which I've barely gotten started.

When serioso stuff happens, I finally get quiet on a2k (won't she ever shut up?). All the arguments and name calling have seemed more bizarre than usual. Same with my ordinary gripes in daily life, I'm unusually sanguine. This too will pass.
Anyway, I'm back and relatively lively, so watch out.

I'm making Marco's pork recipe right now; will use a bit of the results for dinner but later for either burritos or tamales or maybe both. Haven't made tamales in years and years.

Where's the usual late night village crowd? Have they all gone to that dump over on Mercer? Guess they didn't hear about the free music this place has at 2 a.m.

While I wait, I'll have a bacon cheeseburger- with munster and provolone, and a side of onion rings. Maybe a nice tall carrot juice too.
