And, I thought it was an english muffin, hmmm - is it sweet and more like a short bread?

Muffins are made from dough, crumpets/pikelets are made with batter.

Would egg poaching rings work?

I've only tasted packaged crumpets that were like a softer, thinner version of English muffins. But now I'm dying to taste some that are freshly made to go with my morning coffee.

Ummm...these are good, Wassau. And the marmalade is perfect--not too sweet.

@firefly,
NOOOOOO ...... My diet has gone out of the window this past fortnight - there are still two or three crumpets left from the ones I purchased yesterday ... I was trying so hard to forget them! Oh, to heck with it - Wassau, please may I have the same as Firefly - some freshly made VIRTUAL crumpets? Much better for my waistline. With tea, if I may? Thank you. Craving temporarily satisfied.

I just saw Tom Jones on "The View". Haven't seen him in ages. How did he get so old when I haven't aged a bit. Smile

This was the song he performed. He's still got it.

Prince Harry is in NYC right now. It would be fun if he popped into our café to join us for tea and crumpets. He's one real cutie pie.

And I bet the ladies here would help him to find a nice girl he could settle down with.

My thoughts exactly!!! Rolling Eyes

As for Prince Harry ... a very personable young man. Seems to be going down very well in America. We're rather proud of him over here!

farmer slumming it on a boat in May??? Only if the hired help is top notch....this is busy time on the farm.

Well, that shows what I know about farming. Also, it's warm here, so it seemed like boating weather to me. Thanks Hawkeye.

@BillW,
Joshua fought the battle of Jericho, Jericho, Jericho
Joshua fought the battle of Jericho
And the walls came tumbling down!

You may talk about your men of Gideon,
You may talk about the men of Saul
But there's none like good old Joshua
At the battle of Jericho!

Joshua fought the battle of Jericho, Jericho, Jericho
Joshua fought the battle of Jericho
And the walls came tumbling down!

Right up to the walls of Jericho
They marched with spears in hand;
"Go blow them ram horns," Joshua cried,
"'Cause the battle is in our hands."

Joshua fought the battle of Jericho, Jericho, Jericho
Joshua fought the battle of Jericho
And the walls came tumbling down!

Then the lamb, ram, sheep horns began to blow,
The trumpets began to sound,
Joshua commanded the children to shout
And the walls came tumblin' down

Joshua fought the battle of Jericho, Jericho, Jericho
Joshua fought the battle of Jericho
And the walls came tumbling down!

FOUND SOUL
