Wassau! Rum. (gulp) Ah.
Wassau! Scotch. No rocks. (gulp) Ah.
It was a day to stay at home, but I worked. Rain and lightning a constant. My coworker and I were doing whatever it is maintenance men do in an apartment, up the stairs at building's end. I carried the shop vac down the stair and headed back up as co finished up in the guest bath. I topped the landing and made for the door, when strange light rushed into the room and a simultaneous pop sound reached my ears. I knew it to be electrical, as the light visibly retreated out the door, I wondered for an instant what could explode a room that way. Turns out it was lightning, of course, but nothing was hurt, except a decoration fell off the wall. If either of us had been in the doorway we would have bee hurt or worse.
This same lightning caused the ceiling fan in the office to emit a spark and the lights dimmed. Across the street, the day care lost power.
Oddly, I did not have to change my pants when it was over.
Wassau, I will have a cold Lone Star beer, please.
And a salami sandwich, hold the mustard.
I will just sit over here on the couch and count the peanuts in the dish.
@edgarblythe,

What a terrifying experience, edgar! Thank goodness you and your co-worker are all right.
Do you need another beer?
Roman architects could probably design better houses than we now live in.

Wassau, we need a pitcher of Lone Star Beer for this table, please, Edgar's been through an awful experience. And, do you have any more peanuts?

I like the Spanish kind of peanuts, but with only a tad of salt.
@firefly,
A Lone Star beer? That texas back to Knightsbridge, London, where my son and I used to go into the Lone Star saloon, an excellent cafe where we often had ribs and other enjoyable US-style chow.
@edgarblythe,
and another beer for edgarblythe
