@farmerman,

WTF, its snowing. Hey I got my peas in the ground and want to plant my lettuce. This cant be.

Yesterday I pulled all my plants in pots out of the corner of the patio next to the house and put them in their places around the porch, gazebo and yard. I trimmed all dead foliage and they looked so nice. Then, right before bedtime I saw that the temp was going down to 31 last night and 30 tonight. Why didn't I wait another week? So my daughter and I had to collect all the (some very heavy) pots back to their spots in protected areas and covered them with tarp and blankets.........again. Dammit!

@ossobuco,
Unfortunately, Ricky just put one in the water.

I'm rooting for Tiger...who would make a great A2K poster.

Coming right up, dear Set. You are really so sweet. Can I taste the poutine? I've heard so much about it, but never tasted.

@ossobuco,
OK, I just stole the lemon curd recipe. Now, I need protection to make sure I don't make it.......or if I make it, that I don't eat it. Maybe I'll file it. But where? Oh, maybe here on top of this pile of papers under my desk.

I'll have a cup of coffee, Wussup. No cream, two or three sugars, please. And make damned sure it's real, genuine sugar, not some sissy chemical substitute. Sheesh. Some people are trying to kill me. And I'll have a slice of toast, buttered with genuine creamery butter. You put oleo-margarine or something similar on it, you're taking your life in your hands.

Give that guy in the corner a slice of that raspberry danish . . . not a speck of artificial sweetener in it . . .

@Lustig Andrei,
Way ta go, Andy.

Guys our age shouldn't spend a hell of a lot of time worrying about what may be harmful to us 20 - 30 years from now.

Wassau...any time I ask for a buttered roll or toast...I mean real cholesterol producing butter...not that colored lard.

@Setanta,
Ahh, raspberry Danish. My favorite.

Coffee's good, Wassup. Kona, I presume? Or Ka'u?

@Frank Apisa,
I remember that there was a time, Frank (and I'm sure you do, too) when if you ordered anything buttered in an eatery, and they tried to give you oleo as a butter-substitute, they were required by law to tell you that. A restaurateur had no right to pretend that margarine was butter. Unfortunately, the American Dairy Council has lost much of its clout since then.

My father used to insist, when he was served bacon, that it not be drained before going onto his plate. Said the bacon grease was the best part. He lived to the age of 81 and left half a carton of dairy sour cream in the 'fridge, half eaten.

@Lustig Andrei,
Good on your father, Andy.

I remember back when the coloring for oleo came separate...and had to be added and kneaded in. Good grief, that **** was horrible. I've tasted the "I can't believe it is not butter" stuff...and I was not impressed. You know me and that word "believe."

Anyway, I read a long article (think it was in the NY Times) that says that people over 75 should not restrict ANYTHING...including sugar and salt...unless they have active heart or blood pressure problems.

Me...I eat what I want. (But I get lots of exercise.) And I use bacon grease in some recipes...like my baked beans.
