Bombings and hangings and evil local laws such as poll taxes and rig literacy tests was but some of the tools that kept a large percent of black southern citizens from the voting booths even in my life time.

Your ignorance of the rest of the world is oustanding. For a start political advertising on TV is banned outside of party political broadcasts. Not only that, why do you think Obama would waste money on political adverts where he has no electorate.

Your right. No significant new laws will be passed. The fact is no law will stop a criminal, that's why they call them criminals, and every time I see a sign that says NO GUNS ALLOWED it cracks me up because someone actually thinks this sign is going to make a criminal think twice. There is a site on Facebook called Citizens for Responsible Gun Ownership in which it is plainly said that gun owners routinely carry guns in all sorts of places, and it is the decision of the person not to harm anyone that makes the difference. It has nothing to do with a sign. The laws are all failuures. Behind every kid shot in school is a sign that said THIS IS A GUN AND DRUG FREE ZONE. Yeah, thats why one of my kids was in high school and I teased her I wanted a gun and she replied "I could go to school and get you anything you want." A law is a bit of ink on a piece of paper and all it does is give a criminal a good laugh.

In my state if someone carries a gun into a place that has a sign saying NO GUNS ALLOWED, that person has committed a crime. I would bet that's true in most states. You don't quite see your hypocrisy there do you genefog? On one hand you demand we not let criminals carry guns on the other hand you seem to glorify people that carry guns while committing a criminal act.

Well first at all in my state it is a minor misdemeanor for a CC holder to carry a weapon into most places such as bars where it is not suppose to be allow not anywhere near the felony level where the right to own firearms would be removed.

The CC licenses however might be revolved for a time .

The point being once more for the very small percent of CC licence holders that get into any trouble at all related to carrying firearms it is for minor **** like that not for any major criminal misdeeds.

Oh I came across some interesting information concern the history of the GOP being more then willing to try to disenfranchised any group that tended not to vote for them.

In this one case, I came across it is even a worst sin then normal as it involved the voting rights of soldiers/sailors that where fighting for us during WW2.

We can not have them voting for FDR after all and the hell for the fact that they was fighting and dying for all of us at the time.

In any case, the GOP with the help of some of the southern democrats blocked efforts to have a simple universal federal level absentee ballot form for all our fighting men and only a small percent of the soldiers got to vote as a result in that election.

Nothing had change over the half century plus in regard to the GOP willing to try to blocked voting rights from any group that does not have a history of voting for them even if it involved men fighting and dying for the country.
