The passages that they are referring to concern the Jewish laws of Kashruth. (Kosher). If they are so out of joint about shrimp, why aren't they equally angry about pork, or cheeseburgers? I'd bet that those characters would get really upset if they learned that their Christmas ham is as much of an "abomination" as the shrimp!

I'm with God on the shrimp. I hate 'em too. They make my eyes and throat swell up. But mussels! That's some NOIVE - I am not giving up mussels. Especially not mussels in white wine with lotsa lotsa LOTSA garlic - roasted and fresh - in the broth, and some good sourdough bread and ... errrrrr, what were we talking about?

That leaves more shrimp for me!
