Numbers matter. Be counted

@Wilso,
For what it's worth, I added myself to the list.

@Wilso,
United for not believing in something? That seems a little silly.

I suppose I am technically an atheist, I don't subscribe to any sort of atheist agenda. I certainly don't see the need to be counted.

Is there a club for people who aren't a fan of any sports team?

@Wilso,
According to this site, 75% of atheists are men. I wonder why that is.

@maxdancona,
I didn't sign into an agenda. Just a head count.

@edgarblythe,
A head count for what purpose?

I don't want to be lumped in with a bunch of people with whom I have little in common. A non-belief in any deity is a very weak link. Atheists can have pretty much any moral belief or be of any political persuasion.

Will this head count be used for some cause? Or is it useless? Either way I don't think I want to be a part of it.

@maxdancona,
I don't consider myself lumped, just because I let someone know I am an atheist. Just as I don't feel lumped when I let people know I don't belong to any political party. Only a person with a weak mind will feel part of a non existent movement.

@Wilso,
Where's the list for ex-atheists?

@Kolyo,
Why don't you make another thread and start a list?

@edgarblythe,
Nah, who wants to be in a thread where everyone agrees about God.
It's so much more fun to pester the one minority that it's socially acceptable to pester.

(Actually, I guess I still qualify as a "weak atheist" according to the definitions I've read here, whereas I was a "militant atheist" before.)

@Wilso,
I don't believe in God. But atheists tend to really piss me off. The most dogmatic, condescending, self-righteous people I know are atheists.

@Kolyo,
I didn't view this as a contentious thread, but I guess I could be mistaken.

I love the way so many religitards refer to atheism as just another religion. I guess it is - in the way that not collecting stamps is a hobby.

Well.., Atheists do seem to have an International Alliance. The people who don't collect stamps don't have such an organization.

@maxdancona,
Why does the Atheist International Alliance care about gay rights (as seen on their snazzy website)? Atheism has nothing to do with gay rights, in fact I happen to know homophobic atheists.

It seems weird for an Atheist organization to have such a clear dogma.

This is exactly the problem with such an atheist census.

@maxdancona,
A better point to ponder is why someone tries to lump all atheists into that alliance when the majority of atheists either don't know about it or at least don't care about it.

@Wilso,
Do non-theists who are not atheists count also?

@edgarblythe,
... which is why I think this particular Alliance taking a census of atheists is such a ludicrous idea.

@maxdancona,
I don't know why you care. A head count is x number of heads. Making those heads think alike is not even in the ballpark. Nor was it asked of me when I put my head in.
