Those are some handsome doggies you got
there. I love dogs - usually other people's.
The level of committment is SO big for the
care of a dog....you can't go off and leave
them for a few days. Now cats - as long as
their food and water supply is always handy
they just get a little aggravated with you for
leaving them alone. My oldest cat, she must
be 8 or 9 years old, won't sit on my lap or
nothing, till she gets over her grudge. But they
ARE my babies - wish I could take them
wherever we go. Like for Xmas we are going
two states away AND for 5 whole days!
I will be on the piss list. Sad

Heehee - you gotta love an animal that will hold a grudge!
My smarter cats - not those sweet, daffy creatures I have now - would punish me when I went away, too - with the "I'll shadow you, sit on you - but not talk to you" sort of thing others have described.

Miranda will glare at you fixedly if you are doing something she dislikes - so intensely that she makes vets blush when they are giving her shots etc. - but she does not hold a grudge.

Sad to say, I will hold a grudge - damned heavy things to carry around they are, too.....

What a concept! Unfortunately, I know just what you mean. I have a pair of dogs of less than average intelligence. There is always a pause while any voice command is offered. "Huh?" they look at me as though I'm a rock and then, the dawning... "Oh... SIT!!!!!"

Lovey's little girl doggie, Miss Cleopatra, knows what sit means, but plays dense when given the command while out for a walk. We require the dogs to sit down, and to await a command, before crossing a street. However, every once in a while, she will be sashaying happily down the street, and reach a corner, and sit when told to do so. Then she will look up at you in surprise, as if to say: "Oh damn, i wasn't supposed to let on that i know that one!"

Just to change the subject COMPLETELY.....I posted this on Chatoyant's "how old are you really" thread - but I think it belongs here more:

We sometimes amuse ourselves at work - remember I work with kids - trying to figure out how old each of us "really' is. 'Tis a very amusing exercise....my boss is twelve!

Nobody will tell me how old I am - but one of my colleagues once had a "Debometer" - which had a little arrow which you could turn around.

The choices were - Pooh Bear, Eeyore, Tigger, Rabbit, Christopher Robin and Kanga .... he is a wise man in his own way, and a good friend, so I guess that must tell you SOMETHING..... I tended to veer from Eeyore to Tigger.......waaaaah.

Piffka perks up... possibly Poppy isn't stupid, just difficult?

She does give me that stare - "Why are you asking me to do this when you know I must stand to eat?" Maybe she thinks I'm the stupid one!

Six 20 dollar bills or Six CD's?

The CD is Gaelic jigs & reels by Dale Russ (who played a sweet fiddle last night at the Revels) and includes these tunes:

Sean Bui/Wallop the Cat from Under the Table
Albatross
The Blue-Eyed Girl/The Red Door
Paddy Fahey's/ The Tailor's Twist
Bogie's Bonnie Belle
The Gold Ring
Rocking the Cradle
Gan Ainm
The Road to Drumleman
Don't Call Again/Return Home

I was hoping I'd found out what Setanta meant. But didn't.

I was beginning to think it was something from the Emerald Isle, but this (http://www.setantaorienteers.org/) makes me think it's something Oriental, as they used to say.

Oh dear, Setanta, after reading patiodogs links and seeing that first one with all the violent sports on it, I could understand why hurling was also included. Anyone would want to hurl after being knocked around like that.

The second link made much more sense--a musical Irishman always makes sense, in a nonsensical way, even a sensical way when he wants to, but then we all know you would prefer not to, make sense, that is, unless you are really serious, but then you don;t seem at all Irish, I mean when you are being sensical and serious, refering to your Irishness that is.

You will notice that I changed my signature--this best suits the mood I've been in for the past few days or weeks or months, well, years, actually, but then, I digress.

(hurling is a very entertaining sport. in my brief stay in irlanda i watched many hours of hurling on the pub telly. balancing a small ball on the end of a paddle while people try to break your bones -- not a bad feat.)

Setanta's moon? Bethie, what has he been up to? Oh my, what a mental image this is conjuring up. Hee, hee, heeeee.

Patiodog, I've actually seen hurling (not the projectile knd) and it is amazing.

Can;t seem to get the old song out of my mind:

Shine on, shine on harvest moon, up in the sky....

Setanta, honey, you are glowing! Beth, wow, are you sure you want to expose all of Canada to this?
