Three days ago I read an article. In the footnote to its title, there is an expression "With apologies to Francois Jacob."
I fail to fully understand its meaning. And dictionaries at my hand do not help.
Who can give me a hand? Thank you a lot!
Here is the page.

What was the title of the article?
Do you have a link?
Without reading the article it's hard to say, is it about him? Is it a humourous take on his opinion or a twisted view. Maybe he was a teacher of his, years ago, and this piece was contrary to that which he had been taught. I could come up with a million scenarios........
The article you read may have been somewhat mocking of a subject covered by Mr. James - just guessing... but I also see it as a sort of friendly reference...
Thank you, all buddies.
I have updated my post.
All kinds of help are appreciated.
Thank you for your info, Phoenix32890.
I have edited my post according to your suggestions.
Perhaps Jacob had argued that "possible" should be a synonym of "actual."
