Of additional interest to me is how the judge has done the 'church' sentence before and yet people weren't bothered by it...

The judge hasn't done a church sentence before. He's advised people to attend church, but he didn't mandate it.

I can't think of a better way to insure this teenager will be a bitter cynic for the rest of his life than mandating he attend church every week.

@blueveinedthrobber,
He would be better served contemplating his responsibility for the death of another human being than stewing over being forced to spend a hour a week in a church.

The ACLU of Oklahoma filed a complaint with state judicial misconduct authorities Tuesday alleging Norman's ruling disregarded religious liberties in the federal and state constitutions.
"It is shocking that a judge would so blatantly ignore the First Amendment, which at a minimum prevents the government from forcing church attendance and from interfering in deeply personal matters of faith," Ryan Kiesel, executive director of the ACLU of Oklahoma, said in a statement.

@firefly,
