Hello,
In the sentence below, is it required to put an article, "the" or "a"? How would the meaning change if we put an article?
Original:
1-) "Death, I welcome your cold embrace, release from this fever called life."
With the article "a":
2-) Death, I welcome your cold embrace, "A" release from this fever called life.
With the article "the":
3-) Death, I welcome your cold embrace, "THE" release from this fever called life.
What is the difference between these 3 sentence? Which one does sound natural and grammatically correct to you, as a native speaker of English language?
Many thanks.
@cicibebe,
They're all the same. It's a matter of writing style and aesthetics.
@cicibebe,
1. sounds a bit ambiguous. By using a coma it seems that "release" needs an article.
2. refers to death's cold embrace as one of possibly multiple releases from life.
3. refers to death's cold embrace as the only release from life.
