Just hanging around looking to see
if a meeting in A2K is a possibility
or not... no matter which way it
turns out, will be just fine

I'm a past/present/future friend of Bill, still need to see him from time to time. He's a tough man but a good one. We were friends for years off and on.

I'm definately up for a meeting.

Would be nice to have a closed meeting; but that is impossible. The rule of open meeting applies so the rule of desire can not be in action.

A virtual meeting, what a concept!

Meeting
Just got here. Glad to find a meeting. Actually I'm just a graduate student doing research for a paper (wink), but since it's an open meeting....
Still trying to figure out how to navigate the site.

These are four areas to help in beginning. Actually, I find this WebSite to be very intuitive. BTW, when we talk about this thread having to be an open meeting, it is for the friends of Bill Wilson. Anyway, hope this helps!

Thanks BillW. Had wondered about your screen name. Mr. Wilson and I have been acquainted for a bit more than 12 1/2 years.

Hey, hey friend! Didn't know by your first post you were aware. Hope those URLs give you some help.

Screen name and any similarities to Mr. Wilson are truly a happenstance. However, I do kinda appreciate the circumstance.

I believe you could ask to have a usergroup set up - you could have private meeting threads. i recall some discussion around this possibility in the first days of this site. send a PM to a moderator - they'd know what the status of that option is.

That would be cool, a real time cyber meeting at A2k. But an open meeting would be good too. Then all could attend and see what's up with the friends of BillW and Dr. Bob.

Years ago I used to go to this wonderful seafood joint on an island in the Chesapeake Bay, the city was called Cobb Island and the houses were so wonderful there. On the very tip of the island there was a house, the house with the best view and in the front yard was a sign saying, THANK YOU BILLW. I did not know what that meant then but I sure do now.

I had wrote this on another thread and wanted to bring it here to share. For those who have seen it in the other place, well, I repeat my story all the time anyway; but, ya'll know what that is all about:
My last beer, almost.

It was after I stopped drinking. I was at a friend's house who I wanted to stop - almost 12 years ago. It started raining hard, very hard. He was ready to pass out - and on his way to bed he mockingly reminded me there was a six pack in the ice box.

I said, "What me, don't worry". I sat there in that chair, listening to the deluge and then it started - thinking about that beer. One would be okay, but then I'd have to have two - which of course is okay and then that means the six pack would be gone. That would end my problem, right?

More thinking, well if I had a six pack then I would have to have more and I would get up from this chair and go to the store to get more no matter rain or sleet or snow! So, then (luckily) reason entered the picture and I said to myself - "If this be the truth then remove my butt right now and go in the rain while I was still sober." I then fell asleep and awoke the next morning with a beautiful sun and sober!

So goes my last beer, almost!

Sorry that I have begun this, and then off &
disappeared and I come back TO THIS!!@!!
YES!!! TOO GREAT TO BE BELIEVED!
This is way more than I could have hoped
for. It is so good to see you all. BillW, I
thought of the program every time I saw
your name.... Laughing
Joanne, ehBeth, BillW AND MIKEY!!!!
This is a scream - we will have such fun
together, taking each others
inventories, Laughing Laughing
Welcome to our newbie to A2K - seaglass -
great name, btw
Welcome to Maraso - you just hatched! And
you found your way here so FAST,
Way to go!!!
I had NO IDEA we had such a WEALTH
of sobriety here, and I am so very very
fortunate to have the chance to know
each and every one of you.
For me, I have 17 years and my
birthday is 9/1/85. Perhaps we
could all exchange our birthdays
so in the future, we will remember
to celebrate each others BD AND maybe
ask whoever's birthday it is that day -
to write a thing, like speaking, at a
speaker meeting - right off the cuff.
Whadya think? Also, is there anyone
here for whom their anonymity is of grave
importance, for whatever reason? We
must be very sensitive to that.
I have a question......
In the early days, didn't it used to say:

"NEVER have we seen a person fail,
who has thoroughly followed our path"???

I am just so delighted, and so pleased.
Knowing some more members of our
group as we "trudge the happy road
of destiny" or whatever the heck he
said. It would seem BillW has the knack
for exactitude with quoting word for
word - as for me, I get the gist of it and
run with it.
THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING HERE - YOU
ARE ALL KEEPING ME SOBER ONE DAY AT
A TIME!!!

Our group of AA at A2K
I HAVE contacted Phoenix to see
what our options are, I do believe
it IS possble to have a closed mtg
because I know that the moderators
and all those who did all the work on
getting this terrific site going, do
have an option for a closed thread,
maybe a closed chat - but I do not
know if we could get it to work for
only a select group of members.
The only way I have seen this used
is a thread open only for moderators
or the like. But I HAVE posted the
questions - we will see what's what!
Good God, I love you guys

The only requirement for a closed meeting is that a member have a desire to stop drinking. Other than that, if you open with the preamble, serenity prayer and maybe the a portion of the fifth chapter of the big book.... Well, anyway, if we want to get a proper meeting off the ground - I'll help you babs!

I was out looking yesterday and saw where there were other online meetings. Tomorrow, I'll see if I can find some formatting or something. The most important thing is we don't want to look organized or anything - that's an obvious no, no. And we never have to close -

Big question to find an answer too, especially in a closed meeting, do we have to announce ourselves - at least one time? We might even want to see if we can get some actual guidance.

Keep me informed Babs. If you want to go PM, that's a way also. One thing that is important to me is to be open to new members. That is what it is all about. A closed meeting prevents new members because they a lot of times don't want to announce. For that we could always have an open meeting going.

And anyone, everyone out there - for what ever reason, anything what so ever, there is a PM. If you need to talk drop me or anyone else you see here a Private Message! We are still Anonymous!!!!! And, we are real, this isn't fiction and it really, really works!!!!!
