Why the feds need to stay out of Internet Regulation.

Here's an example of why the feds need to stay out of the business of regulating the internet. Everyone knows that they recently passed regulation making spamming illeagl, with possible prison time for violators of the law. Prision time simply for e-mailing people doesn't make much sense to me.

But if they would have waited the internet would have worked the problem out all by it's self without the interference of the feds. Three companies, Yahoo, AOL and MSN are developing strong anti spamming technology which validates the original sender before it ends up in your inbox. This is the way to regulate the internet, through technology, not through law:

You have a classic "chicken or egg" scenario there. Would any of them have bothered trying to do anything if the government hadn't rumbled about taking action?? Not likely!

Someone will, at some point, likely develop a useable technology. Then users will be told they have to pay for it. And people will scream for the government to do something about that too.
