@eurocelticyankee,
Maybe they thought you were a CIA operative! Don't laugh...my brother has to travel there for work and has never seemed very excited about it (I was lol). His boss lives in England, so he generally goes there first and then onto Amsterdam to service his accounts. Mr.Irish thinks the first stop is really to meet with MI6 lol.

@Irishk,
You know what, if they had me pegged for being CIA Cool , well I could maybe understand the attack.
But the fact was I was just another American to them, there seems to be a blind hatred there.

I hate blind hatred and I have no faith in blind faith.

Exactly.

@eurocelticyankee,
"None of them practice it" is at the knub of believing in religious teachings. It just doesn't work. I even venture to say that the opposite happens more often.

@izzythepush,
Now who is playing the victim?

There is nothing ironic about your comments on free speech getting thumbed down. Thumbing you down doesn't restrict your freedom to post whatever drivel you please, unless of course you're such a sensitive lad that you see thumbing down as spreading hate.

What you fail to under stand is that freedom of speech was not added to our constitution or treasured by Americans because we think lunatics should be allowed to spew whatever they may, it was so that the power of the government could not be used to suppress speech with which the ruling elite disagreed or feared.

Totalitarian regimes always rationalize their suppression of speech by claiming the speech is harming society.

European nations with their ridiculous hate speech laws are doing essentially the same thing. Not to protect their power, but to protect their worldview and policies of craven appeasement.

These feckless policies, including Obama's, clearly, failed policy of rapprochement with Islamists, have not only not solved a problem, they have made it worse by sending a message of weakness to a people who "naturally prefer a strong horse to a weak one."

Moderate Muslims may, indeed, form the majority of the Islamic faithful, but they do not require apologies from the malignant comments of the obscure. Unfortunately, despite their assumed numbers, they also have very little influence on the practice of their religion and the actions taken in it's name. This is a reality the West needs to accept.

I will take your opinions more seriously when they include condemnation of indoctrination of young Muslims with hatred for Jews and Israel, and the airing on Arabic public television filth based on the Protocols of the Zion Elders.

You really are terrified of the people you elect aren't you. Your automatic assumption is that as soon as someone is in power they 'take a cudgle to opinions they don't like,' explains why there's so many guns and paranoia your side of the pond.

Not at all.

Our Founders had the benefit of learning from the history of despotic European tyrants.

You, on the other hand, had the opportunity but have chosen to believe it can't happen again.

Ironic considering that a typical European criticism of the US is that our relative youth precludes our appreciation of the lessons of history...unlike (Guess who?) Europeans who live every day breathing the air of history.

Less than a dozen out of 310 million. I'd say it was a bust lol.

But you never know, one of those twelve might be thinking of bombing a mosque!

Some of us are all for it when it is limited to "artistic masterpieces" like the Piss-Christ or the Elephant Dung Virgin Mary; Arabic TV shows based on the Protocols of The Zion Elders or Holocaust Denial, but offend a Muslim?

"You hateful neo-colonial racist you!"

It needs to be done.

Sounds like something an ass would say.

I would wager that you don't have the stones to show your face in public, to the people you like to insult online.

CNN showing film of all the rioting in various ME countries. Throwing rocks, burning tires, carrying huge posters of Osama Bin Laden.

In one country they're tearing up trees and carrying the branches around.

Trees???

Given their feelings about Osama, what do you suppose their reaction will be to Zero Dark Thirty?
