@Ticomaya,
Quote:What do you mean "theoretically." Spendi did that every week.
I did not. I've explained the method I used. I might have looked at the picks of my nearest rival/s in the last couple of weeks but more for the fun of following the key games more intently rather than defending my lead. I used to pick pretty early in the week most times. I was daring my rivals to pick against me.
I remember one of my rivals picking the same as me on the Thursday game and then the rest of the picks were posted just before kick-off on Sunday.
In fact I brought the spread game forth precisely because my method was no good for this game once a few were onto it. And by the end of the second season a few were. farmerman was the one who grassed me up. One either played it or resigned oneself to mid-standings position.
Another advantage of the spread game is that it can continue up to and including the Superbowl. I'm thinking of upping the stakes in the play-offs to £2, in the semis to $5 and the final $10.
What Los misses with his suggestion is that a win by King John after keeping all the picks secret might be viewed by some as more than a lucky coincidence. A certain Zona fan, who I will not name due to my sense of discretion, has called into question the integrity of Coin Toss. I presume he meant that aligning the tossing with the bookie's ODs is a piece of piss with no witnesses.
I was brought up in a cricket league where if we got stuffed the first thing we did when we got back to the pavilion was check the eligibility of the opponent's team members.
Requiring KJ to post the picks of 20 players shortly after the kick-offs constitutes false imprisonment and house arrest and will detract from his pleasure in watching the game.
I think the leader in the standings has a gentleman's duty, or a gentlewoman's prerogative, to go first. At least before the main contenders for the Title.
