That's kinda stupid, isn't it?

I have to be honest and say that most people here think NFL is exceedingly silly ...

That's also what most Americans think about soccer.

It would be if there was an alternative. Have you any intelligent suggestions. The F.A. are eager for one.

I know. It isn't brutal enough.

Which makes it hard to understand castigating Lance Armstrong. He won the Tour de France fair and square imo. He came first with no brain damage. 7 times. In the toughest sport in the modern world.

@spendius,
BTW Tico. You were asked to give your definition of sport. How come you declined?

@spendius,
Do you not, in the slightest, find the turn this discussion has taken to be quite silly?

Fighting, to any extent, over which country 'has' the better sport?

@JPLosman0711,
I merely reported what most people think here. I find NFL just the same in essence as any big money sport. Daft I mean. I don't believe in sweating and straining fit to bust a gut. No Sir!!

I just want the US to win the World Cup and show the people what mania looks like.

That's not the problem. Plenty of Americans love baseball and basketball, neither of which could be considered a brutal sport.

I was asked? I was not aware. I declined nothing. I must not have seen your post (if it really exists).

Must've been thumbed down. Laughing

I don't have a working definition. For me, it's kinda like obscenity ... I don't try to define it, but "I know it when I see it." - Potter Stewart.

I suppose it doesn't make sense to end the PL early every 4 years? How is the rest of the world able to cope?

Some of them are in the same position.

The money playing for England is peanuts compared to their club wages and it's mostly, perhaps entirely, given to charity. The players are careful in international matches to avoid getting injured as well.

The international matches are really exhibitions to generate income for FIFA and promote the game.

A lot of the ladies, and the Monte Python team, consider it to be 22 men chasing a ball around a field.

@Ragman,
Gawd help me, I'm switching my pick (drinking the Manning Kool-aid):

Monday night:
Denver @ SD
(27 - 22)

I'm kicking around changing one other (Vikes - Skins), but I'll let it ride for now and I'll revisit later.
