I remember the excitement of the moon landing. People walking around on the moon!
I admired Armstrong, not just for what he did but for how he comported himself. He coulda been a megastar. Not his thing.
I'm sorry he's gone.
@Roberta,
NBC reported it as Neil 'Young'. They later apologized and corrected the headline.
RIP, Commander Armstrong.
An amazing and courageous man.
I'm reminded of a personal story related to the moon landing. The day after the event, I thought I would visit my grandmother. When she was born, there was no electricity, no cars, no phones, no nothing. I wanted some perspective.
She was in a nursing home. Senile dementia. To my amazement, I remember my conversation with her almost word for word.
Me. Hi, Grandma. What did you think about the man on the moon?
G: There's a man on the roof?
Me: No. We sent a spaceship into space, and a man landed on the moon.
G: How do you know?
Me: I saw it on television.
G: Did you tell anybody?
Me: So, Grandma. What's new.
I tried. I was excited. What can I tell ya?
