What we have to do is to lower taxes for the most wealthy of our citizens...and that problem will be all solved!

Ummm...what was the problem?

@Frank Apisa,
No Voltaire?

One of the causes of the French Revolution was tax inequality--the poor and the middle class were heavily taxed to support an opulent life style of the aristocrats. France already had a sense of personal liberty already proffered by the ideas of Voltaire and the practice of Franklin and Jefferson.

All that was needed was the refusal of the army to respond to the whims of the aristocrats, and the people ate the aristocracy.

The problem is that the conservatives don't recognize the consequence of the past. Perhaps they need to be reminded.

@raprap,
So you would also bring back Robespierre, the guillotine, and all of the other parts of the French revolution, just to remind conservatives of the consequences of the past?

We are at a point where there is one last in a series of last chances to stop the advance of today's version of conservatives. The Republicans could pick up four, I think it is, senate seats and the presidency, to gain control. The government will be hard put to recover, if Ryan's budget takes effect. In his four years, Romney would likely nominate two to four Supreme Court judges. This is why I have rededicated myself to pushing Obama's reelection effort.

@mysteryman,
No but if corporations are considered citizens under the law, corporation should be subject to the same penalties as citizens, up to and including capital punishment (seizing all capital property). If the capital property is owned by a few wealthy investors then they would be forced to forfeit those investments.

For instance it has recently been alleged that some US pharmaceutical companies has performed drug tests in India that has knowingly resulted in the deaths of test subjects. If these companies were individuals they would be charged with murder. IMO they should be, and if found guilty they should be sentenced the same as individuals. The company should be subject to an equivalent loss. If it is capital, the company should be sold with all assets being returned to the public and nothing returned to investors or creditors. In addition investors and creditors will not be able to benefit from loss (taxes).

@raprap,
Who would charge them?
Under the scenario you present, they would have to be charged in Indian courts, and their laws might be different than ours.
