Not until 2007, after the bush tax cuts were already well in place and the recession began. Obama was not elected senate until 2004, after the tax cuts and the vote for the war in Iraq.

And to be fair, once he was elected to the senate he became so busy planning his run for president and then running that he didn't do much in the senate.

What Baldimo forgets too easily is that when the dems had the majority or minority in congress, they were never the No Party. They negotiated and compromised with the republicans. They used to talk to each other back then; no longer. Big difference.
