Hi,every one,I have got something that could not be understood myself. The sentence is: "She is taking a wooden clamp which is composed of a handle and tongs,and the handle is getting a 2 mm bevel on all 4 ends". I can not know the meaning about "the handle is getting a 2 mm bevel on all 4 ends" . Anyone would like to give me some guides ? Thank you in advance !

Here are some examples of a bevel:

When a squared edge (an edge with a 90 degree angle) is cut off or rounded off, it has been bevelled. That edge is now called a bevel. A bevel of 2 milimeters is a very, very small bevel.

By the way, this sentence: "She is taking a wooden clamp which is composed of a handle and tongs,and the handle is getting a 2 mm bevel on all 4 ends."--is awkward. I strongly suspect that it was not written by a native speaker of English.

It should read "The handle has got a 2mm bevel on all four edges".

These pictures give the idea of wooden tongs working as a clamp, but I can't find a picture of one with a handle. It will be a simple, lightweight affair.

@McTag,
McTag: I've been scratching my head, trying to figure out what kind of clamp they were talking about, I'd already rejected this one because the handles aren't beveled, the jaws are.

Maybe they really screwed up the translation.

"She is taking a wooden clamp which is composed of a handle and tongs,and the handle is getting a 2 mm bevel on all 4 ends".

She is using a {wooden} clamp [ ] composed of two [round]handles [mounted on threaded rods] and two wooden jaws which have 2mm bevels at each end.

She is using a clamp composed of two round handles on threaded rods and two wooden jaws which have 2mm bevels at each end.

It still isn't a description of the clamp you've pictured (and I've used many times.) it only has two bevels (I've never known what the purposed of those cuts are) and they are far deeper than 2mm.

AND
he went on...

it never says the bevel is on the outside edge of the jaw. What if the bevels were on the inside, so that only the outside edge of the inside of the jaw touched the workpiece?

A beveled edge is not a rounded off edge.

@Joe Nation,
Thank you for your hard thinking .Maybe the handle is one rectangle size. When the squared edge is cut off,then the "bevel" is coming...
