When Dys was in ABQ last week, he stayed at my house. This time he is staying at a motel. The reason. Maddy kept barking at the door of my guest room during the night. He though Dys was a burglar or something and trying to get into the room. Hard to sleep with Maddy yapping at you. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Diane won't be down until Sunday and will see all the progress being made then. She won't recognize the house.

The skylights and turbine roof vents are going in tomorrow. If we can find time, I will bring Dys to my house to log on to my home computer and post some of his few terse words keeping all of you up to date. But we are very busy, so don't hold your breath.

Dys brought Fred the parrot down to ABQ in his cage. He set it on the floor and Fred and Maddy spent much of the day peering at each other at eye level trying to figure out who the other creature was. Everything would be ok until Maddy, wagging his tail, would get excited and bark, which would send Fred straight up into the roof of his cage. If Maddy ever does that when Fred is out of his cage, Maddy will probably get a bite on his nose he will never forget. Don't mess with Fred, Maddy, or you won't have any nose left.

We had a great lunch yesterday with BillW in Norman. Went to a Mexican restaurant and compared diets! (He's on Atkins, I'm doing South Beach.) Also, his last name is my husband's middle name, which has been handed down through many generations. After comparing genealogy notes, it appears there may be a connection. We're looking into that.

BillW got all wound up on the political threads again, and it looks like he got himself banned for a few days again. <shaking head> I do hope he's allowed back soon. He's a good guy.

Hey, Eva I declare, I am confused about the banning thing. Hey, did you ask Bill about Lady Day? It was the moniker given to Billy Holiday. <smile> Even your kid could have heard it without fear.

Sounds like a good visit, Eva, even comparing diets at a restaurant... LOL! Sorry Bill was banned. Those political threads are stinky.

Oops. I completely forgot to ask him about Lady Day! I will be e-mailing him something, so I'll ask then.

Yes, Piffka, I agree about the political threads. I typically read them for a few days, then get disgusted and don't return to them for a month or so. There's some good info there, but you have to sort through the personalities to find it. Most days, that's too much work. I'd rather come here to play.

I think I was banned once... no, wait... one of my threads was locked and I've also been told not post X-rated album covers. (Moi?) Kind of thrilling, like the first time you get a yellow card in soccer.

Has Bill been un-banned yet, I wonder? Strange, torried days on the politics threads! Rolling Eyes

Diane is in ABQ
Diane drove down from Colorado and arrived last night. I drove over this morning to get some last minutes decisions from her re paint colors for additional rooms originally not to be painted. When Diane saw the beautiful colors we are using she decided to paint the whole damn house.

Then we hopped in the car and bought 6 more gallons of paint, a paint brush for Dys so he can paint the garage door trim a risque red. Then went went to Home Depot and bought two sets of kitchen track lighting just like the one I installed in my home to replace the ugly fixtures in the kitchen. We got a bank account opened and Diane joined the local natural foods Co-op. We loaded up with fresh fruit, picked up some lunches and went home to feed the hungry guys slaving away in the house.

Maddy and Fred just grouse around about everyone being too busy to play with them.

Dys was happy and relieved to have Diane back home with him safe and sound. I was glad to see her too. It was funny in the kitchen this morning. The house phone was ringing, and three cell phones ringing for Dys, Diane and Henry. I'm the only one who didn't have a busy cell phone.

Just before I left to go home, the roofers arrived to start replacing the roof. The neighborhood is all abuzz at Dys and Diane's new home.

Dys and Diane wanted to take me to dinner for my birthday Wednesday night, but I said let's wait until Friday night cause we are all so tired after a hard-working day. I will take them to my favorite French restaurant for dinner. Diane loves French food and this tiny place serves really good French food and pastries. Its the pastries Diane and I want, you know, and Dys ain't no slacker either. He's lost so much weight that we need to put some fat on his skinny ass.

Diane is on a shoping spree
Dys is trembling and clutching his wallet to his skinny chest because Diane is on the loose in Albuquerque and on a spending spree. She's is buying new linens for their beautiful new sleigh bed today.

After I got a haircut today, I dropped by the house for a moment to see how the floor tiling was going. It is going to look beautiful. Henry is a master and the kitchen was nearly done. It has to dry over night and then the grout will be applied tomorrow. Then the new appliances can be installed. Cold ice water at last!

Bob told me I wouldn't believe Diane latest decision. Today she announced she now wants to change the kitchen countertop surface and get rid of the tile we had such a difficult time finding a compatible wall paint color---but not until next year. Bob just shook his head and said well, next year is not so bad. He just keeps working on his red garage door trim, trying to ignore it all, except he keeps bumping into moving boxes that fill the garage. He can't wait for the day the garage is clear enough to park his Porsche inside after he drives back to Denver to retrieve it.

Ah, the joys of moving and of remodeling.

I think it's GREAT that they're feathering their nest. Nothing like remodeling to make a place feel like your own.

Eva, I tease Dys and Diane a lot about their moving pains but it's fun to watch these two love birds (and Fred) create their first and last home together.

Is this just a cheap trick so you can track my IP address and rob my house?

(yes, I know I'm being cynical.)

I'm going to las vegas, baby!

Dys and Diane should have their high speed computer hookup installed today so I assume they will be back on line by Monday. But don't expect much because they are still involved in remodeling and furniture arrival to be taken care of.

Henry, our contractor, took today off; he was exhausted. He finished the kitchen and installed the new refrigerator, stove, dish washer, washer and dryer yesterday. The new roof looks beautiful.

The new carpet in the bedrooms will be installed Monday. The window coverings have been ordered. Then the new kitchen table and chairs and the new furniture can be brought in. Then Dys and Diane can say goodbye to the motel in which they have been staying while their house was in an uproar. One more load of furniture is coming from Diane's house in Conneticut and there are still stacks of boxes in my garage to be hauled to their garage.

I've ordered a large pink flamingo bird feeder for Dys. I'm trying to persuade him to hang it from the rear yard tree but he insists he's going to hang it in the front yard for all the neighbors to see.
