Could accidentally swallowed splinter cause IBS? I have been diagnosed with IBS and I noticed that nsaid are helping me. Is there a way to look for splinter in the GI?
A wooden splinter? Probably not. Stomach acids are pretty strong and would break that down in no time.
After my surgery, my colon did not "wake up" along all places and I developed IBS. Parts were spastic, some parts didn't work. I had that condition for a year. Hatha yoga really helped.
IBS can be kicked off by stress.
Good luck. I know it's a pain to deal with.

@snapsid,
swallowing something sharp could perforate your bowel, but is not likely to cause IBS.
stress and certain foods are more likely to cause it.
I have friends (2) with Chrome's Disease; they've lost pieces of intestine over the years, but they're far from dead. I live with Ulcerative Colitis, but Apriso has kept me symptom free for more than a year. I'm told I'll probably die from someting else before I have to have resections of intestine.
