Fast&Furious: Follow the Ideology

Somewhere between 40 - 50% of Americans who get their news from the MSM are reading about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last week or two with the to them inexplicable finding of Eric Holder in contempt of congress, sort of like Japanese people learning they were losing the war for the first time in July of 1945, having thought they were winning prior to that.

This is a fairly good description of what the story is about for those who are just now catching up.

It was NOT "the same thing."

@OmSigDAVID,
sure it was. Guns from forward pass have also turned up in the cartel armories.

@gungasnake,
The 2007 probe operated out of the same ATF office that later ran the flawed Operation Fast and Furious. It was the "dress rehearsal" for the latter.

(I've posted about that in 2007 or 2008 on a thread here.Will try to re-find that.)

Questions from Jorge Ramos of Univision on Twitter 6/21/12:

Quote:
About Fast & Furious, Pres. Obama told me: "I did not authorize it. Erik Holder, the Attorney General, did not authorize." (March 2011)

And...

Quote:
It's a very simple question. Who authorize Fast and Furious? We don't have an answer yet. (Quien autorizó Rapido y Furioso?Aun sin respuesta

Looks to me like a case of the best defense being a good offense.

Obama and Holder hoped to rape our Constitution with another ban on assault weapons. And they hoped to use the fallacy of "US-supplied assault weapons fueling the cartels" to justify it.

While it is true that with the NRA, Nancy Pelosi and the Supreme Court all teaming up to defend our Constitution, Obama and Holder have always had slim chances of getting their atrocity enacted into law, it is better yet to prevent them from trying in the first place.

By keeping the Obama administration on the defense on this issue these past years, the Republicans have prevented them from making any further attempts at an unconstitutional ban on assault weapons, and have rendered the fallacy of "US-supplied assault weapons fueling the cartels" completely inert as a political argument.
