I’ll have a moment of silence Sunday (Mother's Day) followed by the consumption of a Hershey with Almonds in memory of mom.

That was her favorite!

She's lovely.

I've been working all week at a upper end florist, taking orders for mothers day. I'm there right now. There's lulls between calls of a minute or 2.

It's really been a lot of fun, and very very busy. On the whole it's lovely the way people want just the perfect thing for mom.

@edgarblythe,
There's been a number of men who call, ordering for their wife, mother, MIL and daughters.

This one guy spent $350 on his wife, then $75 each on his mom and MIL.

Another man got a $150 for his wife from him, then purchased two $75's to go from his small kids to their mom.

My favorite was a man who ordered something really nice for his wife, and something equally nice for the MIL, who lived with them. Then, he ordered a $45 bouquet for his little girl, 5 years old, because he realized she would feel left out.
He picked out one of those standard smiley face mugs with daisies for the little one, but said "instead of the daises, could you just put in anything that purple. All purple, she loves purple...oh, and if you have butterflies or ladybug or something. She loves bugs, even cockroaches.

He said it didn't matter what purple flowers they were "She's just going to water them to death." Laughing

This guy was really cool.
He was an american, with a standard name like johnson or miller or something. All 3 females had Japanese names.

He definately understood the politics of making mamasan happy, as well as the wife.
There was a real joy in his voice, especially when talking about the daughter.
After all, she's the reason his wife is a mother.

@chai2,
mother's day is one of the secrets to being a good step-dad.

if you can hook all the kids up to make mom feel like a queen, you win.

goats are easier to herd, though...

@chai2,
My honoring is not that rife with gifts. I give my wife the only ones. But the the rest of them understand and know my thoughts are genuine.

Morgan send my mother a nice box of candy for mothers day, it’s his mother as well.

I always send her a gift card so she can buy what she wants.

@edgarblythe,
Oh yeah, I could never afford that either edgar.
These were guys that live in the richer areas.

I thought it was nice that the man with the really big order actually called it in himself. A number of men had their assistants call orders in, and the assistant was the one who picked it out too.

We'll make calls this year - to my mother on LI, and my brother's wife in MD. My mother-in-law will have a chat session (she's deaf, so this is better) - she's in NYC. And RP's sister will get a chat session as well (not deaf but she's in Siena so this is affordable).

Ma Bell will make a mint off us, for sure.
