I have seen some people (not here) spelling women as
womyn is this a regional thing or just misspelled?
Thanks
It is a feminist thing. A way to remove "men" from the word.
There are other variants like "wimmin".
Some poeple do it just for colloquial effect, and they might spell "men" like "mins" as well but for the most part it's linguistic feminism.
The word womyn has been adopted by some dictionary.
Feminist created the word, for avoiding male chauvinism in the word woman.
Thank you

I wondered if it was a feminist thing. I tried looking it up but didn't have much success.
Appreciate the quick response...it was really bugging me! LOL
Well you live and learn.
If womyn is feminist substitute for women, what substitute do they have for woman?
spelling it as "womin" is the way that we replace woman for the feminist spelling.
Somehow, you get the feeling that there's going to be a feminist Bible in the not-so-distant future.
