have you ever developed feelings for someone by accident

Several years ago I started developing feelings for my best friend, I ended up telling her one day after getting her a dozen of her favorite flowers and afterwards never spoke to me again and labeled me as an asshole to all of her friends when I didn't do anything wrong except tell the truth...it's been about 7 or 8 years now and we haven't spoken since, and most likely won't ever again. It gets better over time though, This is actually the first time I've thought about her in a couple years actually. So are you looking for advice on what to do now or what?
