Do you think Zimmerman will be convicted of murder?

Witch hunt. Zimmerman has done nothing but comply with the courts orders. He has always turned himself in when requested and as far as I can tell the Judge is being an ass. He is quoted as saying "This increased bail is not a punishment," Lester wrote. "It is meant to allay this court's concern that the defendant intended to flee the jurisdiction and a lesser amount would not ensure his presence in court." There is no proof other then that in the Judges mind that Zimmerman would flee. As I pointed out, he has always shown up when requested by the courts or police.

Well, there is the fact that they lied about how much money they had in the first place. Doesn't seem like anyone is disputing that. Judges don't look to kindly upon lies.

Hopefully he comes to trial and gets this smirk wiped off his face...

Next is a hearing where the defense moves to have the charges dismissed based on the Stand your Ground Statue. The real problem for Zimmerman is there are no witnessess, that we know of, who can testify to the events prior to the confrontation. (There are at least two who, according to NPR, are willing to say they heard Zimmerman calling for help.) Zimmerman is going to have to tell his story about what happened leading up to the confrontation, he is going to have to testify in court as to what went down. And the judge hearing that testimony is the one he lied to in order to lessen his bail.

No too schmart, Zimmerman.

Joe(Don't lie, it's too hard to remember your story.)Nation

That smirk is likely from legal eagles telling him that the state does not have a case, and NRA members telling him to not worry about the bills.

@Baldimo,
Well, there is the little thing about lying about how much money he had. There is the other little thing about how he failed to reveal to the court that he had a second passport in his safety deposit box.

Why would anyone think he was planning to flee if he hid money and a passport from the court? There's obviously no proof. Rolling Eyes

The lesser bail just did ensure his return to court, the judge is acting illegally and is basically perpetrating gangsterism. The judge has zero mandate to use his power to set bails as a vehicle of punishment, his only mandate is to ensure Zimmerman's return and the million dollar bail is provably not needed for that.

For that matter George Zimmerman would have as good a case as the world ever offers for seeking political asylum in any other nation.

I don't even buy the idea of anybody lying to this judge, more like putting the worst possible spin on a clumsy answer at a point where Zimmerman's finances were in a state of flux and they didn't really know how much money they were going to have available.

I mean, the guy (Zimmerman) passed two separate lie detector tests related to shooting Martin, different kinds of lie detectors, odds of fooling both of them vanishingly near zero, why would he start deliberately lying to a judge?

Sorry, but that's not the way lie detectors work.

These should actually be called "stress detectors."

If lying doesn't cause you distress, then there's nothing to detect. Zimmerman has proven himself willing and able to lie whenever it suits him.

You obviously do not have any experience dealing with psychopaths....

A real psychopath would not be out doing something altruistic like doing a neighborhood watch patrol and his neighbors and family would not be vouching for him. Psychopaths have no friends in life.

Have you considered claiming that George Zimmerman (and for that matter, anybody else concerned with the dozen or so burglaries which had recently been perpetrated in Zimmerman's neighborhood by people who looked like what Bork Obunga's son would look like if he existed i.e. like Trayvon Martin) might be an incubus or a warlock or a sorceror? Those were the common charges back in the real heyday of witch hunting.

Sanford Fla. Police originally did not charge Zimmerman with anything, the case appeared to be as open/shut and obvious a case of self defense as anybody ever sees. That was prior to Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton traveling to Fla. with their instant riot shows, Eric Holder speaking in front of the "new black panthers" and Bork Obunga claiming that if he (Bork) had a son, he'd look like sn aspiring bugler with some MMA training (i.e. like Martin).

At that point the Republican governor of the place does a Pontius Pilate imitation and hands the case over to the least in control "special" prosecutor in the place, and this woman, Corey, produces a fictitious indictment which experts are calling a "career ender") (hers):

Quote:

...Angela Corey's filing against George Zimmerman bears the hallmarks of a career-ender....

.....I am comfortable with saying that Corey’s multiple references to “justice for Trayon” during her press conference combined with this breathtaking affidavit strongly suggest a political motivation.

I live and work in central North Carolina, just miles away from where an overzealous, politically minded prosecutor named Mike Nifong attempted to railroad athletes from the Duke University lacrosse team in a similarly racially charged environment just a half-decade ago.

Nifong was disbarred and found guilty of criminal contempt for his actions. Angela Corey’s affidavit against George Zimmerman looks to be treading dangerously close to that same path......

Actually, the police recommended that he be charged after their initial investigation. The DA made the decision not to charge him.
