……...of a2k which is most excellent in almost all respects but can anyone recommend and possibly provide a link to another such forum site discussing philosophy, psychology, religion, science, in which however

1. The participant is given longer to edit his OP; say at least three hours or preferably a week, though best of all indefinitely as in many if not most other sites of this kind

2. He is informed by email of responses to posts in which he’s subscribed (pref immediately)

Thanks guys

@dalehileman,
At one time, there was an indefinite ability to edit--but it eats up a lot of resources, and this is a big place, to managment had to curtail the function. Unless things have changed, you can get e-mail updates.

I just checked it out--go to the bottom of the page and look for the rubric "My e-mail updates."

It’s a real time saver if you participate in several forum sites

Anyhow has anyone heard whether it might be restored

Except for private messages there's apparently no provision for activating notification

@dalehileman,
From the A2K tutorial:

See the tab that says "My Email Updates"? That's how you manage your topic subscriptions.

See the green link next to the thumbs that says "Get Email Updates"? That's how you activate a subscription to a topic. When you do, it gets listed under the tab in the above image where you can manage the subscriptions.

Until the email notifications are working again, use the My Posts list (found in the navigation bar at the top of every page) to view all topics that you've ever posted in.

Thank you But but yes I know about that facility and use it frequently

As far as email notification, there’s some confusion on this point. Evidently some say it’s working and some say it’s not

I see several green links but forgive me But but what’s a “thumbs"

Forgive me again But but do you mean that the reason I don’t get email notifications is that I have failed to enter my email add.

If so, then please tell me what to click on in order to gain access to that box

Thanks for your immense forebearance given an 81-yr-old on the threshold of Alz's

@dalehileman,
Obviously, you have entered your email address. You couldn't have joined without it. Is it possible you have changed your address since joining?

As for email notification, it could be that people are not always talking about the same thing. I do get email notifications of PMs if, and only if I am not logged in when they are sent. I do not choose to get email notification of topic replies, so I can't help you there.
